Watercolour on paper
My family, an eclectic foursome of people, is a microcosm of society. As reflected in my work, though we each have vastly different personalities, ambitions and perspectives, all four of us gel well together to form a symbiotic stronghold, a puzzle that fits perfectly into the bigger picture of my community.
In the making of this work, I have learnt to respect the sentience of humankind to a higher degree. Through physical and linguistic contact, mankind has developed its own form of communication and discernment, allowing us to live each other’s experiences vicariously. This notion is especially prevalent in today's modern society, where technology has enabled people to make connections across the Earth. However, nowhere is this more so than our close contacts, namely, our family.
Within the hustle and bustle of this convoluted society, I hope that I never take this for granted.
