Oil Paint on Canvas
59 x 42 cm
The theme of the artwork is dreams. I got inspiration from fairytales and did some research on bad dreams. The artwork is separated into two, one side about good dreams and the other about bad dreams. The right side of the artwork shows a little girl sleeping, and having good dreams. She dreams of fairies, toadstools, fantasy creatures and an imaginary world. Despite meeting obstacles, she still overcomes them and has a happy ending. The left side of the artwork shows a teenager as a student having nightmares, the thought of getting second place, or even losing grasp of it scares her, and from research, falling in a dream occurs when someone is scared of losing control of their lives. She is also afraid that she will fail her exams. Clowns and scrambled up thoughts are also portrayed in this artwork. The two people's dreams reflect their personalities and their real lives. While doing this artwork, I really felt how each of them felt whenever I looked at it.
Colour Pencil on Paper
29.7 x 21 cm
I used colour pencils for the artwork and drew myself doing an exaggerated expression. The artwork is about being myself and the artwork reflects who I am. The artwork also shows confidence in being myself and not caring about what others think. While doing this artwork, I used burnishing and layering methods to create a realistic feel and to make the blending of colours smoother.
