My Spirit Animal
Sculpture (Polymer clay with aluminium and wire, acrylic paint and varnish)
These imaginary creatures were designed by each student to be their very own spirit animal – a manifestation of themselves in non-human form inspired by their personality traits, likes and characteristics. This project takes them through the artistic design process; having to observe and analyse themselves and animals, ideation and conceptualisation, and problem-solving in relation to anatomical mechanics and sculpting techniques. The term-long project culminated in entirely original creatures with their own personalities and backstories linked to each individual student.
