Empty Mind and Daydreams
Drawing

I was feeling rather anxious during the time that I had created this. I wanted to create a piece that had a sense of calm, where the world finally slowed down. I had used this piece as a means of escape from the frenzy of life, hence I started this without much of an idea, and just let it develop by itself. I used colour pencils as I had used them since I was young and it gave me a sense of comfort. I also chose to make the background seem to blend together in order to further emphasise the dreamlike-state in this piece.

Painting

The theme of this piece is systems. I was inspired by my father’s daily routine, where he would water his plants every morning without fail. Thus, I wanted to show this relationship by intertwining his plants with himself, as well as the repeated patterns in the background. I used watercolours, colour pencils as well as acrylic paint for this piece to show how the many different gears and parts of life work together to form a system in another way.
