Freedom of Expression
The book is supposed to represent the freedom of exploring oneself, something I stand for, which includes outside expression. Thus, my artwork focuses on exploring gender identity as well as freedom of expression. I highlighted some features of the characters that are often seen as unpleasant with pink and blue which society views as gendered colours. I drew my elder sister and I conversing with each other with our books open as she is the one I know I can share who I am. I hope this projects a more open-minded society that truly boasts equality.
