The theme of the photograph is about the unappreciated acts by our parents. Most of the time, we as teenagers do not understand what our parents do for us. Hence, I wanted to capture these moments to show the little things they do for us. The first photograph depicts my mother putting up a towel. I used compositions such as the one-third rule to bring emphasis to the subject, the slight details on the windows also suggest some lead-in lines. I used harsh lighting on my mother’s face, making it the focal point of the photo. In the second photograph, I took a worm’s eye view of my mother vacuuming the balcony. The grills, railings, and the vacuum stem are lead-in lines giving more emphasis to the subject. The difference between the white background and the black shirt also shows contrast in lighting. Overall, I wanted to portray the efforts of our parents and how they should not be overlooked.
