The Voyeurs and the Observed
Oil on canvas
140 x 200 cm

The desire to learn more about others from a distance, to anonymously observe the public’s behaviour, aimless people-watching – these are aspects of voyeurism that have permeated every aspect of contemporary life. From the consumption of mass media or even a curious glance across a neighbour’s window, the cyclical nature of voyeurism is inescapable: we are constantly watching others and being watched. I want to portray the uneasiness of knowing that someone might be watching, as well as the intrigue of watching another.
