What is hidden behind a queen’s face? Behind her straight posture? I see her agony, feel her burden and sense the pressure from the expectations from others. In my work, I aim to portray how a girl is seen in two ways, two different yet the same reality.I want to depict a portrait of how we are all similar to the “Queen” when we put on a mask to face our fears and to overcome our difficulties. This provides a pretense to others, and sometimes, even to ourselves. I want to show how we are all trapped inside a different reality, a different understanding compared to the perceived reality of others around us. As the famous saying goes, “things are not what they seem.”
